REDCHURCH BREWERY

REDCHURCH BREWERY

The Idea

From humble beginnings to our ambitious growth plans, the Redchurch Brewery story is an exciting one. Now you can be part of it.

It all started with our founder Gary Ward’s passion for great tasting beer. Commercial lawyer by day, amateur beer brewer by night, it wasn’t long until his hobby took over.

Gary quickly became fascinated with different flavour profiles and styles coming out from the new wave of breweries in the United States and micro-breweries in the UK. At the time, the craft beer industry was still in its infancy, and it was at that moment he had his ‘eureka’ moment.

In August 2011, with a little help from initial investors, we were born under a single railway arch in Bethnal Green – the beating heart of London’s old East End. Our simple plan? To create the best craft brewery in the country. But big ideas start small and for the first six months, Gary was the company – singlehandedly responsible for brewing, bottling, packaging and deliveries.

Fast forward to 2015 and Gary’s initial hard work and dedication has paid off. We now employ 10 members of staff, expanded to fill a double railway arch, and have upgraded the brewery to ramp up annual production capacity to over 250,000 litres. In actual fact, we are now in an enviable position where we simply cannot brew enough beer to satisfy current demand.

Innovation is key to our success and always will be. Our core product range consists of six bottled and kegged beers – all with suitably East End names:

  • Bethnal Pale Ale
  • Paradise Pale Ale
  • Shoreditch Blonde
  • Great Eastern IPA
  • Hoxton Stout
  • Old Ford Export Stout

In addition to the six core beers, the business also produces seasonal specials including:

  • Brick Lane Lager
  • Viccy Park Porter
  • East End Saison
  • Broadway Black Pale
  • Double IPA Chinook

And, in addition to that, we have begun a programme of wild fermented and mixed fermentation specials that we are calling our Urban Farmhouse range examples of which include:

  • Tartelette
  • Urban Farmhouse
  • Petite Mort
  • Bed of Thorns
  • Sauvage Blanc

We have a tap-room bar on site which currently opens to the public 3 days per week and is turning over around £10,000 per month with plans to increase the opening hours and turnover to £15,000 per month. The tap-room is rapidly becoming appreciated as one of the best London brewery bars with press coverage such as this from Time Out London – http://www.timeout.com/london/bars-pubs/redchurch-brewery-taproom

Investing in the company is key to the long-term success of our company, so we have secured an asset finance facility of £248,914.00 for the sole purpose of purchasing additional equipment.

So, in the short space of four years we have grown considerably, and in order to take us to the next level and beyond we’re opening our doors to further investment.

Join us and help shape the future of the Redchurch Brewery.

Summary:
Redchurch Brewery, based in a double arch in Bethnal Green, produces a core range of 6 craft beers. Founded in 2011, the business is unable to keep up with demand and is raising funds to achieve their brand vision, with a significant expansion in capacity and improvement in efficiency of package, alongside an intelligent and coordinated sales and marketing campaign. The brewery on-site bar was recently named as one of the best in London.
