About This Project:
I was born in Naples and my heritage is very strong. The Neapolitan culture is one of the most rich and relevant in Italy. The classic Neapolitan songs like “O sole mio” are known worldwide to the point that UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) officially considered the Neapolitan dialect a language and a heritage for all humanity!
I know that I’m being most authentic when I use my roots in music, because it’s in my blood. But I also love Jazz and I grew up listening to a lot of different genres of music that influenced me…So I had a dream. The dream was to combine the Black American Jazz heritage and theNeapolitan-Italian heritage, to create something more contemporary, personal, elegant and multilingual, but still authentic.
I met the legendary drummer, Grammy Award winning producer Lenny White in 2009 and he liked my idea so we started working on this combination and fusion of styles, languages, rhythms and flair. The result was my first record “Introducing Letizia Gambi” and now, I’m very excited to invite you to join me on the second stage of my musical journey with my new ArtistShare® Project, Blue Monday.
Join me and you will be able to experience every step of my creative process, from writing and arranging music, to collaborating with my core band of great musicians, my producer and special guests like bassist, Sir Ron Carter.
I’ll open an exclusive window on my life and music just for you. I will share my moments of inspiration and my thoughts. You will witness how special the relationship between artist and producer can be, but also how difficult the creative process is and how vulnerable we can be. I must warn you….watch for flying objects!!!
